Free, Public Access to New York’s Official, Reported Decisions

The State of New York has provided a website providing free public access to the official reported decisions of the New York Courts.

The site provides the public with free access to the official, published decisions of New York’s trial courts and appellate courts. It is intended for informational purposes only, personal use only, and not for commercial use. However, the site is free and open to the public.

Here’s what the website says about its updated pages:

This site is powered by Thomson West and permits text searches of court system’s entire database of court decisions, going back approximately ten years.

This service provides access to opinions of the New York Court of Appeals, the Appellate Division, the Appellate Term, the Supreme Court and miscellaneous courts. All opinions dated from January 1, 1980 and published or abstracted in the Official Reports through the most recent Advance Sheets are included. The source for these opinions is the New York State Law Reporting Bureau.

Opinions can be searched by word, official citation, official slip opinion number, docket number, case name, judge name, counsel name, opinion type (i.e., majority, concurring, dissenting) and decision date.

Copyrighted features of the Official Reports (e.g., headnotes, abstracts, summaries and points of counsel) are not included in this service.

Please note: The information contained in the Martin & Colin, P.C. web site is provided for informational purposes only, and should not be construed as legal advice on any subject matter. Our law firm provides legal advice and other services only to persons or entities with which it has established an attorney-client relationship. I founded Martin+Colin, P.C., a White Plains personal injury firm that has recovered millions of dollars for injured people across New York. Over my career, I've represented clients in some of the most serious accident cases the state sees: construction and demolition worker injuries, workplace accidents, and motor vehicle crashes involving cars, trucks, motorcycles, and pedestrians. My practice also covers premises liability and landlord negligence claims, from slip-and-fall and knockdown injuries to harm caused by broken steps and missing handrails. In every case, my focus is the same: holding negligent parties accountable and making sure injured clients and their families get the full compensation they're owed. My clients work with me because I combine a proven record of results with a straightforward, no-nonsense approach. I explain the process in plain terms, I fight hard for every client, and I treat each case with the attention it deserves. If you've been hurt in an accident, contact me and the team at Martin+Colin, P.C. for a free consultation.
